Buttermilk Baked Chicken

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 dash garlic powder
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk, divided
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can cream of mushroom soup

Recipe

  • 1 melt butter in a 13x9 inch baking dish in a 425 oven.
  • 2 sprinkle chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  • 3 dip chicken in ½ cup buttermilk and dredge in flour.
  • 4 arrange chicken in baking dish.
  • 5 bake at 425 for 25 minutes.
  • 6 turn chicken and bake 10 more minutes.
  • 7 stir together remaining 1 cup buttermilk and cream of mushroom soup; pour over chicken and cover with foil to prevent excessive browning.
  • 8 drizzle gravy over chicken.
  • 9 bake another ten minutes.
