Belle's Bayou Lamb Chops

Total Time: 2 hrs Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 6
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 3 -4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 thick-cut boneless lamb chops
  • 1 (1 1/4 ounce) envelope onion soup mix
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1 (16 ounce) carton sour cream

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • 2 combine first four ingredients in a plastic bag.
  • 3 pour oil into a skillet and heat on medium-high.
  • 4 shake chops one or two at a time in the bag containing the flour mixture.
  • 5 brown chops in oil approximately 5 minutes per side.
  • 6 remove chops and place them in a 9x13 inch baking dish.
  • 7 combine soup mix and water and stir well; set aside.
  • 8 add 2-3 tablespoons of remaining flour mixture to pan drippings, more or less; stir and cook preparing a roux for gravy.
  • 9 add soup mixture to pan and stir until smooth and thickened; remove from heat.
  • 10 stir in sour cream and combine; pour all over lamb chops.
  • 11 bake covered for 1 to 1 1/2 hours until chops are tender.
