Broccoli Mushroom Chowder

Ingredients

- 1 lb fresh broccoli
- 8 ounces fresh mushrooms
- 8 ounces butter
- 1 cup flour
- 1 quart chicken stock
- 1 quart half-and-half
- 1 teaspoon sage
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed tarragon
Recipe
- 1 clean and cut broccoli into 1/2 inch pieces.
- 2 steam in 1/2 cup water.
- 3 do not drain; set aside.
- 4 wash and slice mushrooms.
- 5 melt butter in saucepan over medium heat.
- 6 add flour, cook 2 to 4 minutes.
- 7 add chicken stock, stirring with wire whip and bring to boil.
- 8 turn heat to low.
- 9 add broccoli, half and half and spices.
- 10 heat, but do not boil.
