Chili Cheese Strata

Ingredients

  • Servings: 8
  • 12 ounces french bread, cut into 1inch cubes
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded (divided) or 2 cups monterey jack cheese (divided)
  • 1 (8 ounce) jar mild green chili salsa, or
  • 4 ounces green chilies, and 4 oz salsa combined
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 (10 3/4 ounce) can condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
  • 2 cups milk or 2 cups half-and-half
  • 2 tablespoons onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce

Recipe

  • 1 place bread cubes evenly in a greased 2-quart shallow baking dish. sprinkle with 1 cup cheese, pour salsa over cheese, set aside.
  • 2 in a blender combine eggs, soup, milk, onion and worcestershire sauce, pour over bread mixture.
  • 3 sprinkle with remaining cheese.
  • 4 cover and refrigerate 6 hours or overnight.
  • 5 remove from the refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
  • 6 bake uncovered, at 350*f for 30 minutes or until a knife inserted near center comes out clean.
  • 7 let stand 10 minutes before serving.
